The case of FeesMustFall leader and former Wits University SRC president Mcebo Dlamini has been postponed for further investigations in the Johannesburg Magistrate's Court.

He appeared in court today on charges including malicious damage to property and assault.

The stalemate in the tertiary education sector continues as classes countrywide have been disrupted, with many universities having to amend their 2016 academic calendars.

The protest, which started at around 7am, gathered momentum soon after students blocked the university gate entrances including the main Empire road entrance and the Yale Street entrance.
