Manufactured by leading US-based water rides manufacturer, White Water, the new slide promises the ultimate body slide adventure in a capsule. A 17m plummet, nearly straight down, sends riders sliding at 40 mph before being swept upwards into a near-vertical loop. G-forces pin riders as they slide up, over and then down before crashing into the splashdown lane.
“The slide is an exhilarating experience, from the moment you stand in the launch capsule, facing forward and arms crossed. Anticipation peaks as you wait for the trap door to open below, sending you into an intense vertical free-fall into the loop with speeds that will leave you breathless,” says Colin Jonkers, Sun International Group Retail Manager.
The slide is the second new slide to be installed in the past 12 months and forms part of the upgrade of Sun City’s Valley of Waves which has included the opening of the popular gastro-pub, The Brew Monkey, as well as the new fast food arena with the Food Factory.
There are now seven exciting slides to try, with a ride for every comfort level, from an easygoing tubing experience to semi-submerged waterslides that spiral downhill. One of the popular attractions at Valley of Waves is the Roaring Lagoon – a 6 500 square metre wave pool with hydraulic mechanisms that generates waves of nearly 2 metres high. The Lazy River offers a gentle, non-stop tube ride around an island while The Royal Baths, an adult swimming pool beside the Amphitheatre offers a place to soak up some warm sun rays, cocktail in hand.
There are also a number of walkways through tropical forests surrounding Valley of Waves where visitors can explore the Spider Web Sway Bridge, hidden cave waterfalls, rare plant varieties and more. The Bridge of Time erupts every hour in an exciting, theatrical display of vibrations, rumbling volcanic sounds and smoke.
The Valley of Waves is open to both resort guests and day visitors from 09h00 to 18h00 daily in summer (September to April) and 10h00 to 17h00 in winter (May to August).
